Free IRS Form 990-N eFiling By Aplos Software

by Alex Acree

You read that right. Aplos is now a trusted partner of the IRS, and is offering free eFiling of the Form 990-N (e-Postcard) for any small tax-exempt organizations. And just like everything we do, it’s simple.

Who Needs To eFile The Form 990-N?

Tax-exempt organizations whose annual gross receipts are normally $50,000 or less must complete the IRS Form 990-N, unless they choose to file a complete Form 990 or Form 990-EZ instead.

Some organizations not required to file a Form 990-N include:

  • Organizations included in a group return
  • Churches, their auxiliaries, conventions, or associations
  • Organizations required to file a different return, such as private foundations

Requirement To Maintain Tax-Exempt Status

This form is very simple and easy, but also very important. If you don’t file it on time, there is no penalty. But if you fail to file the return for three consecutive times, your organization will automatically lose its tax-exempt status.

Deadline To File

Put it on your calendar. Form 990-N will be due by the fifteenth of the fifth month after the close of your fiscal year. For example, if your fiscal year ends December 31, your Form 990 is due May 15 of the following year. Your nonprofit’s fiscal year may be different than the calendar year, so double-check before submitting it.

If you missed the deadline and would like to file a Form 990-N for a previous year, we can help.

How Do You eFile Form 990-N?

We make it simple—and free! You will only need:

  • Employer Identification Number (also known as a Taxpayer Identification Number)
  • Tax year
  • Legal name and mailing address
  • Any other names the organization uses
  • Name and address of a principal officer
  • Website address if the organization has one
  • Confirmation that the organization’s annual gross receipts are $50,000 or less for tax years ending on or after December 31, 2010
  • If applicable, a statement that the organization has terminated or is going out of business
  • A valid email address

Now let’s get rolling on your Form 990-N eFile.

Hi I am trying to file my 990N for 2019. I have changed Internet provider and my email address has changed. I contacted Aplos support, and they changed on their computer to my new email address. I asked if I needed to change my pass word and was told no. I tried filing this morning and the filing is asking for my credit card. I have always filed free. Please reply as to how I can continue my filing. My previousemail was thepup1@myfairpoint.net My new email address is thepup1948@gmail.com Thank You John E. Burleigh Sr.
