Today we’ll discuss making a fundraising plan. Fundraising can be one of the most difficult and overwhelming tasks for nonprofits. In this Aplos Short, we’ll look at defining what a fundraising plan is and why every nonprofit should have one.
In most nonprofit organizations, a fundraising plan serves as a roadmap to getting funds. Usually, funds come from grants, private support from individual donors, special events, direct mail, or online fundraising.
3 Elements Of A Good Nonprofit Fundraising Plan
- What funding is needed, and how much do you need to raise this year?
- Where will that money come from?
- What activities need to happen, and who’s going to make them happen?
A good fundraising plan will help you succeed. Without a plan, it’s really hard to keep track of your goals because of the many distractions nonprofits have, such as answering the phones and being in the trenches of day-to-day operations. But adding specific tasks to a timeline will help you adhere to a schedule, which can make a world of difference. It can be difficult when you get behind, but a fundraising plan can help keep you organized and on track to be successful at meeting your organization’s goals.

I can’t make the webinar but would love to hear it. Is the webinar going to be recorded so someone can watch it later?
Hi, Pat! Which specific webinar are you referring to? This one is already in the past and its recording is available here in the post.
