So, Taylor, did you grow up in Fresno?14333804_10205051343801658_903921657515443840_n

Yes! I moved here from Arcadia, CA when I was just 3 years old.

What were you doing before you came to Aplos?

Lots of things: I worked in sales, retail banking, and had my own small business for custom apps and websites.

How did you hear about Aplos?

A long time ago, I was taught by this guy named Ralph Nasalroad. He told me that one of his buddies had started this software company to help churches and nonprofits with their accounting.

What’s it like being in an MBA program and working FT?

It is definitely a curse and a blessing. On one hand, I opened myself to a lot of opportunities and new experiences. Also, I am bettering myself by learning a ton and creating new relationships.

Congrats on your recent engagement just before the summer, how did that go down?

I took my Fiancé to the park where I had some lights, blanket, teepee, and champagne set up. I would say that part went very well since she said yes! The real surprise was after when I took her a surprise party with all of our family and friends. We are both very much family oriented and it was even more of a special occasion to share it with the ones we love.

What do you like about working at Aplos?

Free food and I get to walk around barefoot….And the people too!

What sorts of fun things do you all do in the sales team for camaraderie?

We build furniture, listen to music, crack jokes, and help each other build our sales skills.

What lessons have you learned over the years from your Jujitsu training?

Rule #1 — We don’t talk about jiu-jitsu…. Just kidding.  I learn how far I can push myself. It is a very humbling experience to have to “tap out.” It increases the value and perception you have on life. Because in the real world, you don’t get to just “tap out.”

Best reason to be a dog owner?

Unconditional love. Dogs are always there for you at the end of the day no matter what.

Dodgers or Giants?

Dodgers of course.

One thing not many people would know about you?

I use to be really shy and introverted. I don’t know exactly when it happened, but sales might have changed me.

In closing, give us two truths and a lie…***

1. I’ve been squished by Shaquille O’Neal on a beach in Hawaii.
2. My South African Grandfather used to be neighbors with Nelson Mandela when he lived on Robben Island.
3. I’m related to the ancient kings of Scotland.

*** Leave a comment below and tell us which one of these you think Taylor is lying about!

Eric Burgess is passionate about all things digital media. When he’s not writing searchable content for churches and nonprofits to find online, he’s likely spending time with his family or out riding his downhill mountain bike in the Sierra Nevada mountains somewhere. Oh, and he's deathly allergic to tree nuts.
