Comparative Income Statement Reporting Updates

We're excited to introduce an improved Comparative Income Statement report in Aplos. This update makes it easier to analyze your organization's financial trends and compare performance across multiple time periods. Right now, this report is in a Beta Preview phase, which means that the original Comparative Income report is still available. You can try out this new version and give feedback through the end of March 2026.

What's New?

Compare Up to Three Periods  at Once

The new report allows you to compare financial data across up to three time periods  simultaneously, with variance calculations that help you quickly spot trends and changes in your organization's finances. Choose from years, quarters, or months, and compare custom date ranges against a single period.

Cleaner, More Intuitive Design

We've redesigned the report interface with several improvements:

• Fiscal period-based column headers that display clear period labels (such as FY 2025, FY 2024, FY 2023) instead of date ranges for easier reading at a glance.
• Flexible period views with options to analyze by months, quarters, or years based on your fiscal calendar.
• Benchmark-based variance calculations that compare each historical period against your selected current period. For example, if you're analyzing FY 2026, the variances show how FY 2025, FY 2024, and FY 2023 each compare to FY 2026, making it easy to track performance trends over time.

Streamlined for Financial Comparisons

The new comparative report focuses specifically on period-over-period comparisons, with his historical period benchmarked against your selected current period. This makes it easy to see how your financial performance has changed over time.

Note on budget comparisons: Budget columns are intentionally not included in this report. If you need to compare actuals to budget, use the standard Income Statement or the Budget to Actual report.

Important note: Custom date ranges in the new report are limited to single period comparisons.

When Will You See These Changes?

Beta Preview (Available Now)

Since January 21st, you've been able to test the new Comparative Income Statement report through a beta preview. Here's how it works:

• Access the beta by clicking the "beta preview" button on the Comparative Income Statement periods page.
• Navigation banners in the current version will help you move between them.
• Your existing saved reports will remain unchanged while the report is still accessible via the beta preview. Once the report goes live your saved reports will automatically take on the new format.
• A feedback banner on the new report lets you share your thoughts on the design. Your feedback helps us ensure the final version meets your needs.

Your current report remains available: During the beta period, both versions are accessible so you can continue your workflow without disruption.

Full Release (Coming Spring 2026)

The beta period will run through the end of March 2026. After that, we'll review all customer feedback and make any necessary improvements before the full release. We don't have a specific release date yet because we want to ensure the final version incorporates your feedback and meets your needs.
