We’re thrilled to share one of our biggest updates yet… a complete rebuild of the Aplos Register! This isn't just a visual refresh. It’s a complete enhancement of how you interact with your financial data in Aplos on a daily basis, and it was designed with your feedback in mind.
Over the past year, we've been taking detailed notes from the customer feedback regarding the Register in Aplos. You told us you needed better visibility into reconciliation statuses, more control in entering transactions, and easier ways to view and export your Register data.
Rather than applying “band-aid” fixes, we decided to rebuild the Register from the ground up. The result is a powerful tool that addresses your most pressing needs while laying the foundation for future usability enhancements.
Filtering the Register allows you to view account transactions within specific parameters. We know that filtering is an important part of viewing the Register, so we’ve made the filters easier to access at the top of the page.
Not only has access improved, but there are also new filters by popular request. Choose from pre-selected date ranges, filter by reconciled versus unreconciled, and find all previous filters centralized in one place. Another perk we’ve added is the ability to export your Register with any applied filters for customized transaction reporting.
Now when you enter a new transaction, you’ll be taken to a separate page within the Register to add a Deposit, Payment, or Contribution in your asset accounts, or a Charge or Payment in your liability accounts. We’ve modeled this process to align with the clear workflow for adding new invoices in Accounts Receivable and adding new bills in Accounts Payable. The "Save & Add New" button allows you to add multiple transactions at a time without leaving the page.
We wanted to make it easier for you to interact with the Register and quickly find the information you need. To switch between your Register accounts, you can click the arrow next to the account name and select which account you’d like to view.
Sorting through Register transactions is now more intuitive as well. Each column in the Register has a sorting arrow that you can click on to change the ordering of how your rows are displayed. Speaking of display, we’ve also added a column for you to view the reconciliation status of your transactions and ending balances.
If you’re using the Register in Aplos, here’s what you can expect from the new experience:
One important note: As part of this Register rebuild, the ability to create a contribution directly within the Register has been removed. Instead, you'll now follow a link to the Donations > Contributions > Deposits page to add a contribution deposit.
This change allows us to maintain the specialized functionality and data validation that contributions require, while keeping the Register focused on its core transaction management capabilities.
Here's a quick walkthrough from the Aplos Training & Enablement Lead, Anna Ross!
This Register rebuild is the foundation for our broader vision of integrated financial management in Aplos. Our roadmap includes more intuitive bank connections and deeper integration between your Aplos transactions and bank activities. This also sets the stage for proper void capabilities for voiding AP payments. The new Register makes all of this possible.
We hope you’re ready to explore the new Register experience. As always, we're listening to your feedback. Try out the new Register and let us know what you think. Your input continues to drive our product development, and this release is proof of that partnership.
The future of nonprofit accounting is more powerful, more flexible, and more user-friendly, and it starts with Aplos.
