The Budget to Actual report is the pulse check of your organization’s mission. That is why we are excited to announce some exciting updates to the Budget to Actual report in Aplos.

We have modernized the user experience to align with our recently updated financial reports. With improved performance, cleaner visuals, and intuitive controls, this update helps you spot variances instantly and prepare for board meetings with greater confidence.

What’s New in the Budget to Actual Report?

Here is how the new report helps you manage your budget with greater precision:

• Clearer Variance Visualization: The refreshed layout makes it easier to scan Actual, Budget, and Variance by dollar and/or percentage at a glance. The presentation is clearer, even though the underlying variance calculations remain the same.
• Flexible Column Controls: You can choose which columns you want to see and hide the ones you don’t need- such as Actual, Budget, Variance ($), Annual Budget, and % of Annual Budget Used.
• Comprehensive Period Comparisons: To give you the full context of your financial performance, you can now easily view:
  
  • Current period Budget vs. Actual (with Variance)
  • Year-to-Date (YTD) Budget vs. Actual (with Variance)
• New Customization Panel: A new sidebar panel holds all your customization options, giving you more flexibility in how you format and view this report.
• More Intuitive Filters: The report filters (date range, funds, tags, segments) have been refined and modernized to align with our newer reporting standards in Aplos.
• Saved Views for Recurring Reporting: Once you’ve configured the columns and filters you rely on (such as a “Grant View” or “Board Summary”) you can save it and quickly return to it whenever you need.

The ability to customize and save your views decreases the friction of month-end reviews, allowing you to focus on the narrative behind the numbers rather than the formatting of the spreadsheet.
