As 2025 draws to a close, we're reflecting on a year defined by massive growth and a relentless focus on you, our nonprofit customers. We listened to your requests and invested heavily in our platform to ensure Aplos is the best possible tool for fund accounting and financial management. This year, powered by Velora, we delivered 36 significant updates and improvements across the platform.
Here is a recap of the major milestones that have brought you performance improvements, increased customization, and an enhanced user experience overall.
The Core Rebuilt: Faster + Better Accounting
We tackled the heart of the Aplos experience by rebuilding seven key features to be faster, more reliable, and more customizable. This initiative resulted in a staggering 99.7% average reduction in loading time for rebuilt reports, proving that performance is paramount.
The rebuilt features include:
- The Checking Register. Our complete overhaul of the Register more filtering options, an improved process for entering transactions, and an accessible drop-down for switching between your Register accounts. Learn more.
- Income Statement Report. Not only does this report now load large datasets faster, but we’ve also added advanced filtering options and customizable report formatting. Even more exciting display options are being added to the Income Statement before the end of the year!
- The General Ledger. Our improvements here focused on a faster, more reliable, and customizable experience. New features include customizable columns, new data columns (AP Paid, AR Paid, and Invoice Paid), and the same flexible formatting options (hide cents, divide by 1,000) added to the Income Statement. - Balance Sheet Report. The most exciting improvement to the Balance Sheet is that you now have the ability to switch between Accrual and Cash basis within this report. Additionally, following the success of our other reports improvements this year, the Balance Sheet received the same updates in customization and filtering. Learn more.
- The Reports Hub. The main Reports page received a modernized interface, making it easier for you to find and organize your reports. This central hub for reporting can now be personalized to make your reports accessible in whichever way works best for you. Learn more.
- Bank Reconciliation. We optimized our bank reconciliation feature to add automation for transaction matching, clear balance views, and better controls for re-opening reconciliations. These enhancements were aligned with our commitment to increase the intuitiveness of core parts of Aplos.
- Transaction List Report. We directly applied your feedback to this report so that you can now switch between a single or double entry view of your transactions. In addition to the new views, the Transaction List received the highly-anticipated customization options that were added to the other rebuilt reports this year. Learn more.
New Features for Improved Operations
In addition to our core rebuilds, we added four new features to streamline your workflows.
- Voiding for AP Payments. You can now properly void a payment made toward a bill in Accounts Payable. This automatically reopens the bill as unpaid, ensuring your Accounts Payable aging reports are accurate and you maintain a clear audit trail. Learn more.
- Integration with Keela's CRM. This new integration creates a one-way sync for online and offline transactions from Keela’s donor management platform into Aplos. This sync brings donation data seamlessly into your fund accounting system, ensuring a complete, accurate view of every donor and dollar. Learn more.
- Expense Management Integration with Ramp. Our partnership with Ramp is designed to save your team time and help you manage expenses with confidence. This allows users of both platforms to tag expenses to specific funds or tags to properly categorize expense transactions in Ramp before the auto sync to Aplos. Learn more.
- AI-powered Chat Support: We launched AI-powered chat support, as part of our goal to offer quick, accessible technical help. Of course, our highly-rated Aplos Support Team is still available for phone, chat, and email support!
The Big Picture: Aplos joins the Velora Integrated Suite
This year, Aplos joined the Velora integrated suite, alongside Keela (smart donor management) and Raisely (modern fundraising campaign builder). Velora brings fundraising, donor management, and accounting together in one seamless experience to help you raise funds, nurture donors, and track every dollar. This partnership ensures nonprofits can excel in their operations in order to grow their fundraising efforts and ultimately, their mission.
